Hello,
I am Mr. Beacon. A true born and raised Yukoner. My parents moved to the Yukon in the 60's and started a family here.
I went through Jack Hulland Elementary School, Porter Creek Junior High, and eventually graduated from F.H. Collins Secondary (only high school at the time).
As I have always been in construction, I gained my Journeyman Interprovincial Carpentry Certificate (Red Seal) at an early age. I worked for 9 years with Cardinal Contracting and went on to own my own construction company. Through the years I have worked on many big commercial jobs in town as well as many house constructions. I have had the pleasure and experience working in just about all communities within the Yukon.
In the late 90's I went back to school in Vancouver and gained a Diploma in Technology Teacher Education. With this, I also gained a Diploma in Safety in Technology Education. Once completed, I went on to U.B.C. to attai a Bachelor of Education with Major in Technology Education and a minor in Outdoor Education.
My practicum consisted of stints in both Whistler as well as Kamloops.
I returned to the Yukon to teach both Woodwork as well as Metal/Mechanics shop in Dawson and eventually P.C.S.S. (2003).
I started a family and have two boys whom keep me busy. My interests are; construction, fishing, snow machines/ ATV's and automotive.
However, my biggest passion is teaching youth!
